"Financial Literacy in Catholic Teens" by Madeline Coady

"My Catholic Social Tradition capstone focused on evaluating and further developing Financial Literacy in Catholic Teens. I chose this project as a way to apply my education to a real issue in our communities. As an Accountancy student at Notre Dame, I noticed many of my peers had unanswered financial questions. After studying education reform in a sociology class at Notre Dame, I realized that, in many school districts, curriculum changes and an increased focus on standardized testing eliminated the possibility of teaching students general personal finance topics. In response to this, I created Financial Readiness "mini-lessons" that could be easily incorporated into Confirmation Classes." - Madeline Coady
