"Examining poverty as a systemic issue in light of CST, my project sought new means of providing permanent housing to individuals experiencing homelessness in Portland, OR by providing adequate employment. Creating a franchise model that harnesses the City of Roses' affinity for coffee, food trucks, and social change, I designed a simulation and feasibility analysis to that could provide insights on how to make this business venture economically feasible and socially impactful. Using demographic statistics of target consumers, market research on buying habits, and income statement reports, I was able to plan a pilot coffee shop for the Portland Coffee Company, the Sixes, that would have the necessary population and pricing to provide living wages, healthcare, and skills training."
